With the (hopefully) impending announcement of Acotar 6 gaining increasing traction online, I’ve had some time to reflect on what I think will happen in this book and what I hope to see in it. Here are some predictions for Acotar 6 that I find highly likely.
1. Elain’s perspective
This is fairly well agreed upon within the community. Seeing as we’ve had books in the other two Archeron sisters’ POV’s, it is safe to assume Elain’s will be next, especially considering SJM has confirmed that she will eventually have a book.
2. Elain’s love interest
Now the one thing that is not agreed upon at all is who the eventual love interest for Elain will be. The main suspects seem to be Azriel, Lucien, and, surprisingly enough, Tamlin.
Here’s what I have to say on that. I hope she doesn’t end up with Azriel. I think they are entirely incompatible, and I would really like to see Azriel pursuing a relationship with Gwen.
For Elain, I would like to see her end up with Lucien, because I want a happy ending for him. As it stands, though, I don’t think that is what SJM will end up doing. Lucien has already been introduced as a love interest and as her mate, and honestly, I think that SJM really wants to show us what a rejected bond looks like. I feel like the hints have been there from the start, and though I’m not sure how I feel about it, I’m fairly convinced that the pairing in this upcoming book will be Elain and Tamlin.
3. Elain’s power grows
Elain has remarkable Seer potential that we haven’t even seen a fraction of yet. I’m so excited to see where this goes and how the development of her gifts affects the Inner Circle. I’m also hoping that it gives Elain a little character growth and development, something I think she sorely needs.
4. Character Development
I think this is where we will see Elain blossom. Up until now, she has been a quiet, uneventful character with Nesta protecting her and doing most of the talking in her stead. I hope that a book from her perspective will let us see how her mind works and develop her personality. SJM had left her as a blank slate up until now, and I’m excited to see how she will develop.
5. Elain and Nyx
It’s no secret that Elain hates Fae. She rejected Feyre, got engaged to a Fae hunter, and wore his iron wedding band past the dissolving of their relationship. Now, of course, Elain herself is Fae, and she holds a lot of contempt for that. She is closed off, doesn’t talk much, and doesn’t like to use or explain her gift.
I think that she and Nyx will form a bond. Perhaps she ignores him, but he is fascinated by her and keeps coming back. They slowly form a friendship and Elain realizes that this infant isn’t evil, therefore realizing she herself isn’t.
6. Nyx’s power
It’s assumed that this next book will pick up fairly soon after where the last one left off, meaning Nyx will likely be an infant/baby throughout the course of the book. This doesn’t mean we won’t get to see some power from him. As an Illyrian son of the most powerful, cunning, and handsome High Lord Rhysand and Feyre Cursebreaker, we can prepare for him to have some never-before-seen abilities and gifts.
7. Tamlin returns to the scene
I don’t like him. Nobody likes him. I do, however, have a sinking suspicion that Sarah J Maas isn’t done with him yet. I feel a redemption arc coming on, and all I have to say is that it will need to be written extremely well to get anyone to fall for it.
Even if Tamlin is not a love interest for Elain, I still see him making a reappearance in this next book, so I think we should all start preparing now.
That’s all I’ve got! While we can’t make any predictions about the plot, I do know that this book is going to be amazing, considering how long it’s been in the works. Let me know what you think about my predictions and what predictions you have for the next Acotar book in the comments!
Happy Reading,
Ashley
